Reception Furniture Questions We Hear a Lot

What fabric holds up in a lobby?
Commercial vinyl or high-rub-count fabric, 100,000+ double rubs. Residential fabric in a lobby looks tired in a year, and we'll steer you off it.
Can the desk carry our logo?
Yes. Logo panels, accent lighting, and custom laminate colors are standard options on most reception lines.
How much does a reception desk cost?
A stock reception desk runs $1,500 to $4,000 depending on size and finish. Custom-built desks with stone tops, logo panels, or curved fronts run $5,000 to $15,000. Used reception desks in good shape start around $800 and are often the smartest money in the lobby.
How long does a custom reception desk take?
Plan on eight to twelve weeks for a custom desk, including drawings and approvals. Stock desks ship in four to six weeks, and in-stock or used desks can be in your lobby within a week. Start the reception desk early; it's usually the last thing ordered and the longest to arrive.
Does a reception desk need to be ADA accessible?
If it's a service counter open to the public, yes. You need at least a 36-inch-wide section at no more than 36 inches high, with knee clearance where a visitor would sign in. Most stock desks offer an ADA transaction section. We'll flag it before you order.
How much lobby seating do we need?
Count the peak number of people waiting at once, then add two. Most small-business lobbies need four to six seats. Mixing a two-seat sofa with two lounge chairs reads better than a row of identical chairs and gives people a choice about where to sit.
Can you design the whole lobby, not just sell us the furniture?
Yes. Our design team will lay out the space, pick finishes, and show you a rendering before anything is ordered. It's the same seven-step process we use on full floors, scaled down. Most lobby projects take a couple of meetings to lock.
Can we see reception furniture in person in Columbus?
Yes. Our 28,000-square-foot showroom on Alum Industrial Drive has reception desks and lounge seating set up so you can sit in them and see the finishes in daylight. Lobby furniture is judged by visitors, so it's worth the trip to see it before you commit.
